After a productive and restful day at the beach, it’s time to put those sea shell collections to good use! Alternately, there are bags full of shells available at dollar stores, so this could be a wonderful summer-themed beachy craft for the kids that encourages creativity outside of the traditional materials such as paper. We’ve also seen this craft done with rocks, which turned out just as beautiful.
To create these amazing art pieces, heat the shells in an oven at 200 degrees F for at least 5 minutes before starting - be careful because the shells could get pretty hot and we don’t want anyone getting burned!
We recommend pulling the shells out one at a time to get decorated so they don’t cool down too fast. Test the temperature before letting children color on it with the crayons.
Try it out yourself! Inspiration came from this post.
